Why do I need submission and optimization? Submitting your website to a search engine without tuning (optimizing) your site to the rules and specific requirements of the particular search engine is like fishing in the middle of the ocean with a hook but no bait! Optimization is a must for the vast majority of sites on the web. A good, well tuned or optimized website will have a Visibility Rating Score or Index Value ranging from 150 - 300. The average Index Value across the web is a mere 45!! What is a search engine spider? A spider [a.k.a crawler] is an application used mainly by search engines to crawl through pages on the World Wide Web. Such spiders collect information used to index web pages. Each spider from each search engine has slightly different rules and operates on a different time schedule. Our technology uses the same spidering technology as that used by the major search engines to index pages from your website. Will submitting my site guarantee it will list at the top of search engine results? No. Listings are largely dependent upon the website's pages being easily found and the content of the pages (titles, meta tags and text) recorded by the search engines. How long after my website is submitted will I see results? It can take from 2 weeks to 2 months for a website, once submitted for free, to appear in search engine results. The waiting period varies greatly from one search engine to the next. Do I need to optimize my site on a monthly basis? Due to periodic changes that search engines make to their rules and weighting factors, plus the changing trends for keyword and key phrase usage across the World Wide Web, your website's ranking position can vary virtually overnight. If your ranking position should reduce to place your site beyond the first or second page of search results then further optimization will be required to help restore or improve on the initial position. How often should a page be submitted? Submitting a page weekly or monthly serves no purpose and can adversely affect the page or entire website. After the initial submission of a page it should only be re-submitted for the following reasons: We recommend that you only submit optimized pages to the search engines. This ensures that you obtain maximum visitor traffic from the very beginning. You have a much greater chance of being found if you have a maximum number of pages submitted to the search engines. However, you may wish for people only to enter through specific web pages, in which case, it is best to submit pages that allow visitors to easily navigate to other areas within your site. What pages do search engine spiders have trouble following? Web pages are either static or dynamic. A static page is created as a standalone file and placed on the web server. It's web address will generally end with ".htm" or ".html". The file does not change unless somebody edits or replaces it on the server. Dynamic pages, on the other hand, are created "on the fly" and contain content which is generally populated from a database. Static pages are virtually always submittable to the search engines. However, dynamic pages can pose an addressing and connection problem. If when you click on a link and the page you go to has an address containing a "?" followed by something like "id=10" then the page is dynamic served and may be difficult for search engines and spiders. Search engines also have great difficulty in crawling frames and flash pages. They also have some difficulty in crawling pages with extensive tables and images. Creating pages with these elements on them can greatly reduce your chances of being found in search engines. Why doesn’t VisibilityPro submit to all the available search engines? Some Submission companies claim to submit to 300,000+ search engines, but the fact remains that only the most commonly queried search engines will drive the most traffic to your web page. VisibilityPro submits your pages to the major search engines, maximizing traffic to your web page. Can I submit any type of website/page to VisibilityPro? The ‘spider’ VisibilityPro uses is very similar to those used by the major search engines to categorize and rank a page in search engine results. If the spider used by VisibilityPro becomes ‘stuck’ or returns error messages, this is an excellent indication that search engine spiders will never be able to ‘crawl’/index your website in their results. This means your website receives no traffic! VisibilityPro cannot successfully spider pages containing the following elements to achieve significantly improved search engine rankings. Each of these design elements make it almost impossible to be read by the spiders of all major search engines. ‘Submitting’ your website refers to submitting all or some of your web pages to the search engines. This can take a lot of time to do, whereas VisibilityPro’s search engine submission feature will do al of the work for you! How are search engine rankings and website traffic related? Most search engine users rarely search past the first 2 or 3 pages of results. If you are serious about generating great online traffic, your web pages must appear within the first few pages of results. Search engine optimization will greatly improve your search engine rankings, and therefore increase your online traffic. What is spam? Spam is the use of any technique designed to manipulate search engine results outside of the standard industry practices. If discovered by a search engine, using some of these methods may result in a website being black listed. These black lists are sometimes shared throughout the industry, so the website may also be banned from other major search engines. Search engines are continually improving the tools they use to detect search engine spamming. Methods of spamming include: We take the utmost care in protecting customer and business information.
